Biography

CCCP Fedeli alla linea were an Italian band formed in 1982 in Berlin, led by vocalist Giovanni Lindo Ferretti and guitarist Massimo Zamboni. The genre was self-defined by the members themselves as "Musica melodica Emiliana / punk filosovietico" (“Melodic music from Emilia-Romagna / pro-Soviet ")

Their name, CCCP, is an intentional use of the Cyrillic acronym of "SSSR", (Russian: Союз Советских Социалистических Республик; transliterated Sojuz Sovetskih Socialisticheskih Respublik); (Union of Soviet Socialist Republics, abbreviated USSR).

Originally named "MitropaNK", CCCP left behind the stereotypes of punk rock, and reached for a genre-defying convergence of , , music, , , Middle Eastern music, and even chamber music while delivering a bleak vision of humankind, introducing in their live shows elements of expressionist theater and existentialist philosophy.

They are one of the most important group in Italian rock music, and their works influenced dozen of artists such as Marlene Kuntz, Massimo Volume, and Offlaga Disco Pax. They disbanded in 1990
